Corktown

Named by the original Irish settlers, Corktown houses the first “free” school; Enoch Turner Schoolhouse, and the first Roman Catholic Church; St. Paul’s Basilica. Toronto’s best-known Irishman, Timothy Eaton, turned his dry goods shop into Canada’s largest department store; today it’s the famous Toronto Eaton Centre. Experience the Irish charm with the many quaint jazz bars, restaurants and shops found here.
